I am slightly confused. I received a notice of of a DMCA takedown of a file. It took a little bit but I figured out it was a photo of my wife that I took in our bedroom.

I'm concerned about what would be required to respond to this. On the one hand, the copyright is mine as the creator, but I try to keep anything that would solidly identify us off of anything associated with this account, publicly or privately. Can't hack or leak what doesn't exist.

I may well just let this thing go as fighting it could put our identities at risk, but I'm confused.

Reverse image searches only showed the image on pages linking back to my photo on ML. Where did the claim come from?

1 out of 10 times you get a notification
And you get the file number so you actually don't know what they took down.

It's a part of life on the internet these days tbh... most likely your upload was included in a gallery they wanted removed, or maybe a large batch of uploads. I seriously doubt the DMCA agents are checking to see if there's a pic of your wife in there, and the site has to comply regardless if the takedown notice is legally compliant.

If I was you I'd let it go, just chalk it up to "dumb shit that happens" and move on.

A lot are auto generated by a site called Pixsy, users upload a batch, they search, flag and lazy users can have the site send out auto response takedowns, Best guess anyways.
